When Sherlock’s been without a case for too long and his mobile is dreadfully silent and his thoughts are spinning out and out until he feels like he’s about to go all to pieces. And he’s off cigarettes again and the patches aren’t working and his focus is so far gone that he can’t play violin any more and none of his current experiments are interesting enough. And finally John can’t watch him keep pacing the length of the flat, so he sets aside his laptop, and he grabs Sherlock by the shoulders and kisses him into the bedroom and onto the bed, holding him down and down and down until all of Sherlock’s focus is on him and there’s nothing in Sherlock’s head but silence and John.
